I’m absolutely thrilled about the Cascadian Chorale’s upcoming season. The program “Draw on, sweet night” has been in my mind for years, and includes some of my favorite works from the Renaissance to the modern day. Some time ago our Argentinian pianist, Andrés Peláez, introduced me to Guastavino’s Indianas, and thus began my fascination with his native culture. And of course the opportunity to present in Benaroya Hall is very exciting to us all!
Each concert has something for everyone, from light-hearted fun to deeper enlightenment. I look forward to seeing you at our concerts!

As the days shorten, we celebrate the onset of autumn. Renaissance madrigals mingle with selections from Randall Thompson’s Frostiana. Lili Boulanger’s haunting Soir sur la plaine accompanies Eric Whitacre’s delicate Sleep. The vigor of György Ligeti and light heart of Henk Badings recall the joyful aspects of nightfall. Brahms and Barber round out the program. |

Our annual Christmas concert takes a look at the carol. Hear carols in new and unusual settings, and sing along in some traditional favorites. John Tavener’s The Lamb, Poulenc’s O magnum mysterium and Stephen Heitzeg’s little tree invoke both the secular and sacred mysteries of the season. |

We invoke the summer months with a musical visit to Argentina. Tangos and love-songs show the spirit of a lively culture. We also present two major choral masterworks: Alberto Ginastera’s Lamentations and Carlos Guastavino’s cycle Indianas. Bridge a distant land to our own with music by two Argentinian composers living in America, Osvaldo Golijov and Pablo Ortiz. |
