Cascadian
Chorale
Philip
Tschopp, Conductor
Heather
MacLaughlin Garbes, Assistant Conductor
with special
guest Douglas Cleveland, Organ
Superb 20th-century composers found a golden treasure in
the long-neglected English carol, a folk tradition
expressing seasonal themes and popular sentiments.
Whether sprightly or contemplative, the vintage anthems
were shaped into exquisitely artistic arrangements which
maintained respect for their folk origins. Join us as
the Cascadian Chorale celebrates examples from masterful
English composers Britten, Howells, Rutter and Vaughan
Williams. This rich heritage is further showcased in
eloquent works by American greats Herbolsheimer, Paulus
and Dove.
Douglas Cleveland, music director of Plymouth
Congregational Church, is featured as guest organist.
Round out the festive experience by joining the Chorale
in a selection of well-known carols!
