Mysteries of Heaven
Cascadian Chorale with Soloists
Lisa Pontén, Soprano; Kathryn Weld, Mezzo-Soprano;
Paul Hearn, Tenor; Erich Parce, Baritone;
Alison Austin, Harp; Martin Welzel, Organ
Philip Tschopp, Conductor/Artistic Director
Our dynamic season opener will feature musical settings both haunting
and joyful, as our men’s and women’s voices, separately and mixed,
express the mysteries and wonder of the holiday time. Two of the
favorite instruments of the season will accompany us: the mighty organ
and the charming harp, as played by two of Seattle’s finest
instrumentalists.
Join us as we delight in Benjamin Britten’s brilliant Rejoice in
the Lamb, based on the startling and quirky poetry of Christopher
Smart. Enjoy a rare performance of Duruflé’s chant-inspired Messe Cum
Jubilo, and celebrate festive carols familiar and new. From Rutter’s
Dancing Day to our Composer in Residence Bern Herbolsheimer’s
O Come, O Come Emmanuel and other beloved carols, this will be a
stirring concert celebration.
